AQA Exploring Spring Unit – Discovering Seasonal Change Through Nature (Entry Level)
A gentle, sensory‑rich AQA‑accredited unit helping children explore the signs, changes and magic of spring.
Our Exploring Spring AQA Unit is designed for SEND learners, home‑educated children and families who love nature‑based, low‑pressure learning.
This Entry Level unit invites children to notice the world waking up after winter, from new shoots and blossom to birdsong, insects and changing weather.
Learners will:
notice the key signs of spring in their local environment
identify at least one thing seen in nature during spring, such as flowers, birds, insects or buds
describe a feature of a spring plant, animal or natural object
take part in a spring‑themed nature activity such as a walk, craft, scavenger hunt or sensory task
understand that spring is one of the four seasons
learn that plants and animals change in spring
explore nature outdoors during the spring season
recognise the key changes that happen in spring, such as new growth, warmer weather and increased wildlife activity
understand that different seasons bring different changes
This unit is perfect for:
home education
SEND and neurodivergent learners
early years and primary nature study
forest school and outdoor learning
gentle, interest‑led science learning
Children learn through noticing, observing, exploring and hands‑on experiences, with no pressure, no tests, and no worksheets required.
On completion, learners receive an official AQA Unit Award Scheme certificate celebrating their achievements.
Important: Enrol Your Child as an AQA UAS Student First
To complete this unit and receive certification, your child must be registered as an AQA Unit Award Scheme student with Where The Wild Ones Learn before beginning the activities.
This ensures all evidence can be logged correctly and the certificate can be issued.
