What the AQA Unit Award Scheme Is

The AQA Unit Award Scheme (UAS) is a national programme that allows learners of any age to gain formal recognition for completing small, meaningful units of work. Each unit is:

  • Short and achievable

  • Highly flexible

  • Adaptable to different ages and abilities

  • Designed to celebrate progress, not pressure

Children receive an official AQA certificate for every unit they complete, building a portfolio of learning that reflects who they are and what they love.

How It Works with Where the Wild Ones Learn Academy

We offer a growing collection of nature‑based, creative, and holistic units that align with our ethos of wild pedagogy and child‑led exploration. Families can choose units that match their child’s interests, strengths, and rhythms.

Our role is to:

  • Provide beautifully designed units that are clear, accessible, and engaging

  • Offer guidance and support for families completing the units at home or outdoors

  • Assess submitted evidence with care, warmth, and respect

  • Register and certificate each completed unit through AQA

  • Learning can take place in the woods, at home, in the garden, on adventures, or through everyday life, wherever your child feels most alive.
